About Us
We are based at St Catherine's College, Oxford, and are affiliated to the Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Physics. The Centre was founded and is directed by Professor Josh Silver, formerly an atomic physics professor and inventor of the Adspecs, self-adjustable glasses that allow the wearer to set their own prescription, removing the need for trained optometric personnel, which are hugely lacking in developing nations. The work he began is being continued by the Centre, with more scientific studies into the applicability of the process of self-refraction (setting your own prescription) and other related vision issues. We are always looking for partnerships with organisations that are able to help with our work on bringing vision to the developing world - if you feel you or your organisation would be suitable to work with the Centre, please get in touch by visiting Contact Us. Please read through the Centre's Privacy Policy, which governs how we hold and use any data you volunteer to us. |
